Governor Ron DeSantis names Graci McGillicuddy to the Florida Women's Hall of Fame

The Giving Coast

Governor Ron DeSantis recently announced the induction of Sarasota resident Graci McGillicuddy into the 2024 Florida Women's Hall of Fame. Each year, the Governor selects three nominees from the recommendations of the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. This prestigious award recognizes women who have made significant contributions to the state of Florida and its residents through their professional and philanthropic efforts. Graci McGillicuddy is the co-founder of All Star Children's Foundation, a Sarasota-based child welfare center that combats child abuse and provides a safe place for foster children. She has dedicated her life to advocating for the rights and well-being of abused children. Her commitment also extends to public service on various state councils and nonprofit boards, where she contributes to initiatives in the arts, mentoring and child abuse prevention. In 2022, she was recognized by The KNOW Women as a member of their “100 Women to Know in America,” and in 2009, she received the “Spirit of Service” award from the Florida Senate. In 2008, McGillicuddy led a $6 million capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art child protection center in Sarasota. She currently serves as the life director of the child protection center after serving as board chair and board member for many years. The induction ceremony will be held later this year and will recognize the achievements of McGillicuddy and two other outstanding women – May Mann Jennings and Penny Thompson – who have all made significant contributions to the betterment of Florida.
