Orlando Bloom's former black villa in LA comes on the market

The former Hollywood Hills home of actor Orlando Bloom, who was infamously targeted by the “Bling Ring,” is now for sale for $5 million. Mansion Global have learned.

Located in the Outpost Estates neighborhood of Los Angeles, this four-bedroom home sits on approximately .75 acres and features a terraced garden, updated landscaping, and views of Downtown LA.

Built in 1940, the 3,200-square-foot ranch-style home with its signature blue shingle roof was recently renovated by Blueview Real Estate, which acquired it through foreclosure in 2022.

The house, painted black and seamlessly integrated into the landscape, is located away from the road.

Claire and Sam O'Connor of O'Connor Estates, who are offering the property for sale, noted its subtle integration into the surrounding area.

“When Orlando did it, it was very controversial, and now it's quite hip to have a black house,” Mr. O'Connor said.

“It camouflages the house excellently,” added Ms O'Connor.

But this house didn't just attract attention for its appearance. In 2009, it was raided by the “Bling Ring,” a group of teenagers who broke into celebrities' homes and were later portrayed in a Sofia Coppola film.

According to Curbed, they allegedly stole Rolex watches, Louis Vuitton luggage and artwork.

Bloom, who lived in the house with his then wife Miranda Kerr during the robbery, described the incident on The Late Late Show with James Corden last year, and expressed the emotional impact of losing his watch collection.

Despite this ordeal, Bloom managed to recover half of the stolen watches by confronting the fence who was in possession of them.

Bloom sold the house in 2014 for $3.9 million.

The 2022 buyer was unable to repay his loan payments and Jeff Martin, a former Hulu executive and current owner of Blueview Real Estate, took over the property for $3.1 million.

Martin recognized the potential of the home's original architecture and undertook extensive renovations, which included installing white oak floors, custom cabinetry, and improving outdoor spaces such as the pool and patio area.

Featuring a versatile fourth bedroom that can be used as a recording studio, gym or office, the home retains its sunny charm and offers new owners numerous possibilities.

“Every room has a door to the outside, so it creates a very nice transition,” said Sam.
