Some of Florida's top recruits will announce their applications on the Fourth of July weekend

Independence Day has quickly become Commitment Day.

Some of the state's best players will announce their college decisions either on July 4 or in the days following.

Leading the list is mandarin safety Hylton “Drake” Stubbs, who ranks No. 8 on the USA Today Florida Network's Top 100. Stubbs, who previously committed to USC, is now deciding between Florida and Miami.

Cocoa wide receiver Jayvan Boggs, No. 16 in the top 100, will also announce his decision on Thursday. The former Ohio State player is expected to choose between Missouri and UCF.

Here's a look at the players who will announce their signings in the next few days.

Mandarin S Hylton Stubbs

USA Today Florida Network Top 100 Rankings: 8th

Announcement date: 4th of July

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound All-American had 97 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, six interceptions, six pass breakups and three fumble recoveries in 2023 as he helped Mandarin reach the Class 4M state championship game. Stubbs has just two schools left in the state: Florida and Miami.

Cocoa WR Jayvan Boggs

USA Today Florida Network Top 100 Rankings: 16

Announcement date: 4th of July

Boggs helped Cocoa win its second consecutive Class 2S state title in 2023, catching 93 passes for 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns and earning the prestigious Mr. Florida award. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound player made official visits to UCF, USC, Georgia and Missouri over the past six weeks.

IMG WR Donovan Olugbode

USA Today Florida Network Top 100 Rankings: 37

Announcement date: 4th of July

A strong receiver with big hands, the 6'1″, 200-pound Olugbode caught 31 passes for 561 yards and five touchdowns last season. The Illinois native has taken official visits to Washington, USC, Florida and Missouri.

Ed White S. Joshua Patterson

USA Today Florida Network Top 100 Rankings: 66

Announcement date: 4th of July

Patterson, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound defensive back, recorded 19 tackles, three interceptions, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2023. He took official visits to Wake Forest and Iowa State in June.

Mainland DL Christian Hudson

USA Today Florida Network Top 100 Rankings: 62

Announcement date: July 6

Hudson has a Final Four roster that includes Iowa, Iowa State, Maryland and UCF. The two-way lineman had 69 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 2023 as Mainland won the Class 3S state championship.

IMG CB Major Preston

Announcement date: July 6

Preston transferred to IMG before his junior season after spending two years at Hopewell, Va. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound defensive back officially visited Florida, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech in June.
