Inter Miami continues its busy week with a trip to the Carolinas.

Gerardo Martino and Inter Miami travel to face Charlotte FC on Wednesday, July 3 at Bank of America Stadium in downtown Charlotte, N.C. It’s the first time these two teams will meet this season, and last year Charlotte won one and lost won.

The Herons picked up their 13th win of the season last Saturday as Jordi Alba scored a wonder-goal on the half-volley. He blasted a strike past Nashville SC goalkeeper Joe Willis to give Inter Miami a 2-1 win. Charlotte meanwhile were shocked in a 1-0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo after going on a four-game unbeaten run.

Inter Miami vs. Charlotte SC lineups, team news

Inter Miami has three players still out on international duty (Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Matias Rojas), and two players out with long-term injuries (Nicolas Freire and Facundo Farias). Diego Gomez, Federico Redondo, and Marcelo Weigandt are all questionable to play, and we saw Ian Fray start and score in the last match in place of Weigandt.

Inter Miami projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Callender (GK) — Fray, Sailor, Kryvtsov, Alba — Gressel, Gomez, Ruiz — Taylor, Campana, Cremaschi.

Inter Miami subs (9): (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)

Charlotte missed Ashley Westwood in the center of the park as he missed the last match on a yellow card suspension. Westwood should return for this match, and it may be the final match as well for Liel Abada, who was just named to Israel’s 2024 Summer Olympics men’s soccer team.

Charlotte FC projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Kahlina (GK) — Byrne, Malanda, Privett, Uronen — Bender, Westwood, Diani — Abada, Agyemang, Vargas.

Charlotte FC subs (9): (Lineups released one hour prior to kickoff)

Inter Miami vs. Charlotte FC prediction

Both teams are entering this match on short rest, but Inter Miami has on paper a weaker squad available. However, that hasn’t stopped Martino’s side in the past, and it’s hard to bet against them at this point, even on the road. Either Inter Miami will come away with a narrow win, or it will be a rout for Charlotte.

Prediction: Inter Miami 1-0 Charlotte FC
