After a series of package thefts, police in a Massachusetts town are warning residents about thieves who strike within minutes of a delivery and may be disguised as real package deliverers.

Westminster police said Tuesday that there have been recent attacks on both FedEx and Amazon deliveries in the community.

“These reports are very similar. Typically a high-value package is delivered and within minutes of delivery, a suspect is seen approaching the home with a box or bag. He either takes the package or exchanges the empty box for the delivered item,” police wrote.

In addition, police warned that suspects were seen wearing fake Amazon vests.

Westminster officials urged residents to be on the lookout for suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhoods and to report that activity. The department also suggested being home to personally accept the delivery of a high-value item.
