Parcel thieves disguise themselves as delivery drivers and are quick to attack

After a series of package thefts, police in a Massachusetts town are warning residents about thieves who strike within minutes of a delivery and may be dressed like real delivery drivers. Westminster police said Tuesday that both FedEx and Amazon deliveries have been targeted recently in that community. “These reports are very similar: a typically high-value package is delivered and within minutes of the delivery, a suspect will approach the home with a box or bag and either take the package or exchange the empty box for the delivered item,” police wrote. In addition, police warned that suspects have been seen wearing fake Amazon vests. Westminster officers urged residents to be on the lookout for suspicious people or vehicles in their neighborhoods and to report this activity. The department also recommended being home to personally accept delivery of a high-value item.
