Gasoline prices in Arizona are above the national average. What you should know

Arizona gasoline prices were more than 5 cents above the national average on Tuesday as residents prepared for record-breaking travel, according to AAA data.

On Tuesday, the average price of regular gasoline was $3.56 per gallon, above the national average of $3.50. Maricopa and Coconino counties were the most expensive counties in Arizona, at $3.58 and $3.67, respectively.

Around 60 million travelers were expected to take a road trip for Independence Day, and AAA noted that this could lead to an even bigger increase in gasoline prices.

“That number could skyrocket over the next 10 days,” AAA spokesman Andrew Gross said Thursday.
