Early voting begins for Arizona's July primary. What you need to know

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – Early voting has begun in Maricopa County and across the state. Arizonans are heading to the polls to cast their votes in a number of important elections.

In Maricopa County, registered voters can visit BeBallotReady.Vote to request a mail-in ballot to their home or temporary residence. Voters currently registered with a party or on the Active Early Voting List will automatically receive a mail-in ballot. Those registered as independents must request their party's mail-in ballot. If you are voting in person, you can visit Locations.Maricopa.Vote to find the polling place closest to you.

If you live in another county, you must contact your county's registration office and specify which ballot you would like sent to your home.

There are a number of important races to keep an eye on this year, including the U.S. Senate race.

The winner of the Republican Senate primary will face Rep. Ruben Gallego, who ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The numerous Republican candidates include former television news anchor Kari Lake, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb and Arizona-born neuroscientist Elizabeth Reye.

The deadline to request a ballot by mail is July 19, while the deadline to vote early in person is July 26.
