Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck says the Heisman Trophy is a team award

Georgia Football League quarterback Carson Beck says the Heisman Trophy is a team award.

Georgia football enters the 2024 college football season with one of the best rosters in all of college football. Quarterback Carson Beck is a big reason why, as he is considered one of the best, if not the best, player at his position and one of the best players in the country. He is also considered one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season.

Beck attended the Manning Passing Academy this summer and spoke to the media there about a variety of topics. One of them is the Heisman Trophy and what he thinks if he won the award in his senior year at the University of Georgia. Here's what he said:

“It's 100 percent a team trophy,” Beck said. “Obviously, my success as a quarterback depends a lot on the offensive line, it depends a lot on how our running backs play, it depends a lot on whether our defense can get stops, it depends a lot on whether our wide receivers can make contested catches and create space… “Ultimately, it's a very team-oriented award. It's not my main goal, but if I could do it, it would obviously be a dream come true.”

Beck had an impressive 2023 season as Georgia's starter, throwing for 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns, six interceptions and completing over 70 percent of his passes. He nearly led Georgia to another College Football Playoff berth had they not lost to Alabama in the conference championship game.
