MONROE, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte has decided to use this mug shot due to the nature of the charges.

A man who was stopped by a police officer in Monroe on Tuesday afternoon was wanted for failing to appear for a murder charge just across the border in South Carolina.

Monroe police said Wednesday that an officer stopped 25-year-old Jamison Jashawn Chambers of Wingate because his car had an expired license plate. However, the officer found he was under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license. There were children in the car and he had a concealed handgun.

Further investigation by the officer revealed that Chambers had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, about 36 miles southeast of Monroe and across the state line. The warrant was for failure to appear in court on charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and armed robbery.

Chambers was arrested and is currently being held without bail at the Union County Detention Center. In addition to the warrants, he was charged with DUI, carrying a concealed weapon and child abuse.
