The search for the missing boater on Flathead Lake is still ongoing.

The search for the missing boater on Flathead Lake is still ongoing.

Lake County Search and Rescue posted on social media: “The search continued [Tuesday] for the missing boater. Working with Lake County Search and Rescue, Lake County Sheriff's Office, Flathead County Sheriff's Office and other private companies.”


UPDATE, 6/29/24, 11:30 a.m.: The missing boater has been identified as 34-year-old Chad Hansen of Missoula, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Donald Bell said in that press release that emergency crews are still searching for Hansen, but based on information gathered from witnesses, he likely drowned.

The Lake County Sheriff's and Coroner's Office extends its sincere condolences to Hansen's family and friends, adding that they are committed to doing their best to find him.


POLSON, Montana – The search for a missing boater is underway on Flathead Lake Friday morning.

The Lake County Search and Rescue Unit posted on social media that the boater may be in the area north of Little Bull Island and south of Safety Bay near Polson.

The boat was recovered without a boatman.

People are asked to be on the lookout and report any sightings to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
