Volunteering possible at the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center

MARTIN COUNTY – The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center on Hutchinson Island is a place where people can learn about the region's coastal ecosystems and environmental stewardship while having fun.

The Florida Oceanographic Society is a decades-old nonprofit organization and the coastal center is located at 890 NE Ocean Blvd., across from the Elliott Museum and Stuart Beach.

The coastal center has a variety of offerings, including a 2,600,000-liter wild fish lagoon and a popular stingray touch pool.

There are many opportunities to volunteer, although some of them depend on the time of year.

“As an organization that prides itself on educating the public, we are always looking for people who want to help us in our mission,” said Anthony Brunet, the organization’s communications and public relations coordinator.
