A Massachusetts city has been named one of the best weekend getaways in the US for 2024

If you don't have a long or proper vacation in your schedule this year, you better do that soon because summer is flying by and before you know it, the summer vacation season will be over. There's one town in Massachusetts that's particularly great for a weekend getaway. Time Out has released a list of the best weekend getaways in the USA for 2024 and the beautiful town of Lenox in the county of Berkshire made the top 10. Here's an excerpt from Time Out's review of Lenox.

Culture enthusiasts have long flocked to the city thanks to Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the innovative local theater company Shakespeare & Company. Now, upscale accommodations like 33 Main and the recently renovated Cornell Inn offer a more luxurious mountain retreat. (Those seeking real luxury should plan some time at Miraval Berkshires.) History buffs can arrange tours of nearby architectural gems like Ventfort Hall and The Mount, the former home of author Edith Wharton.

Lenox also has something fantastic to offer for nature lovers

If you're a nature lover, check out Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Covering over 1,000 acres, you can hike through forests, meadows and wetlands and along the slopes of Lenox Mountain. The hike can be as easy or challenging as you like. There's also a good chance you'll come across beaver activity, whether in the form of dams, dens, burrows or the animal itself.

Is Lenox, Massachusetts your next weekend destination?

If you're planning a weekend getaway to Massachusetts, Lenox should definitely be on your list. The beautiful New England town can satisfy many tastes and interests. You might like it so much that you want to stay longer, and that's OK. You deserve it. If you can't make it to Lenox in the summer, that's OK too, because the town is perfect for a fall getaway. The next Lenox Apple Squeeze is September 28. Check out the full list here.

Every beach town has its pros and cons, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best place to live. To find out, Stacker used data from WalletHub as of June 17, 2020, comparing U.S. beach towns. The ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. Cities had populations ranging from 10,000 to 150,000, but had to feature at least one beach on TripAdvisor. The full methodology can be found here. From those rankings, we chose the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida won't be surprised to learn that many of the cities featured here are in one of those two states.
