Man charged with indecent exposure at Target in North Carolina; drug officer with car while speeding away

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A man is facing a charge of indecent exposure after allegedly exposing himself inside a store and dragging a police officer with his vehicle while speeding away from the scene.

On June 29, officers with the Greenville Police Department were called to Target on Evans Street to assist with reports about a man masturbating inside the store. The suspect left the store before police arrived, walking towards Harris Teeter before entering a silver Nissan and driving away.

An officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle at the Evans Street and Arlington Boulevard intersection, initiating a traffic stop immediately. The suspect, Dontes Smallwood, rolled his window up on the officer’s arm during the traffic stop and attempted to drive away. The officer was dragged for several yards before freeing his arm. Smallwood drove away at a high speed.

Officers were able to find Smallwood hiding under a trailer in the woods near Moores Body Shop and promptly arrested him. Smallwood was charged with Felony Indecent Exposure, Assault on a LEO inflicting physical injury, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, Resisting a Public Officer and Possession of up to 1/2 ounce of Marijuana.
