Another heat warning for July 4 across North Texas ahead of a rare cold front

NORTH TEXAS – A hot Fourth of July is on the way.

Another heat warning is in effect for Thursday as dew point temperatures are just above 21 degrees Celsius, meaning temperatures will feel like 41 to 42 degrees.

The heat warning will be lifted Friday as a rare July cold front will arrive later tonight. There is a 20 to 40% chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms into the early morning hours. The timing appears to coordinate with any fireworks events, but keep an eye on the weather, especially along Red River Counties.

The front will pass through on Friday and temperatures will drop to just under 35 degrees. The front will remain stationary and maintain the updraft, so that rain showers and thunderstorms may occur in the late afternoon.

Beryl could hit South Texas by late Saturday with rough surf and some outer bands rotating onshore. The path could further increase the chance of rain in North Texas.
