Pennsylvania man arrested after shooting at Wellsville party | Allegany County

WELLSVILLE – A Pennsylvania man was arrested Wednesday for an alleged shooting during a party in the town of Wellsville, New York State Police reported Thursday.

Gregory S. Miller, 54, of Penndel, Bucks County, was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree criminal use of a weapon.

At around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, state police arrived at the scene on Smith Hollow Road where a shooting allegedly resulted in injuries. The police investigation revealed that Miller had an argument with a 48-year-old male victim after consuming alcohol for several hours.

According to police, Miller allegedly went to his vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, returned to the party with a .45 semi-automatic pistol and fired at the victim several times, hitting him once in the lower left leg.

Miller was reportedly disarmed and detained by other partygoers until state police arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect.

According to police, the victim was initially taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville for a non-life-threatening injury to his leg before being transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for further treatment.

Miller's case was processed and remanded to the Allegany County Jail pending arraignment.

The State Police Forensic Identification Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Allegany County District Attorney's Office assisted in the investigation.
