Obituary for Joseph P. Caszatt, Hermitage, Pennsylvania

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (MyValleyTributes) – Joseph P. Caszatt, 81, of Hermitage passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday afternoon, July 3, 2024, surrounded by his wife.

Mr. Caszatt was born on July 21, 1942 in Sharon to the late Louis and Lois (Likens) Caszatt.


As a veteran of the US Army, he was stationed in Germany for two and a half years during his service.

Joe worked on the assembly line at Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant for 29 years and later retired from Duferco Steel where he worked as a machine operator.

Joe was of the Christian faith.

He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Sharon.

Joe was an avid reader and book collector, had a special affinity for history and was also interested in genealogy. He enjoyed spending time at home with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His beloved wife, Elizabeth “Ann” (Mikulin) Caszatt, whom he married on June 10, 1967, still lives in their home in Hermitage.

Joe also leaves behind a son, Steven Caszatt (Marianne), Marietta, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Bill Caszatt (Vincie), Sharpsville, and Louis Caszatt, California; three grandchildren, Zachary Knapp and Emma and Isaac Caszatt.

Joe was predeceased by his daughter Sheila Knapp and his three brothers Tom, Everett and Alvin Caszatt.

Visiting hours will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.

The funeral service will take place immediately afterward on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. His grandson Zachary Knapp will conduct the service.

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.

A television tribute will air on Friday, July 5th at approximately the following times: 7:10 a.m. on FOX, 12:22 p.m. on WKBN, 5:08 p.m. on MyYTV and 7:27 p.m. on WYTV. Video will be posted here the day of the broadcast.
