Georgia receives Gold Shovel for new business investment and job creation

ATLANTA – The state of Georgia was recently awarded a Golden Shovel for attracting new business investment and creating jobs in 2023.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced that Georgia has been awarded a Gold Shovel by economic development publication Area Development for significant achievements in attracting new business investment and creating jobs in 2023.

“Without the work of our economic development teams in all four corners of the state, we could not create the thousands of jobs we have across Georgia,” said Governor Brian P. Kemp. “Their efforts have helped Georgia achieve record-breaking investment and hundreds of thousands of jobs for our communities. Their commitment to making the market work and partnering with innovative companies, coupled with our pro-business approach, unmatched workforce and world-renowned logistics, help ensure our state remains the No. 1 place for business, and this Gold Shovel Award is well deserved.”

Area Development's annual Gold and Silver Shovel Awards recognize state economic development agencies that demonstrate excellence in creating a business-friendly environment, fostering innovation and implementing strategies that have successfully attracted high-quality investment projects. All states were invited to submit information to Area Development on major groundbreakings, investments and business expansions in 2023.
