2,000-acre Billy Creek fire rages near Idaho-Washington border | Spokane news

SNAKE RIVER, Idaho – According to the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) The Billy Creek Fire has grown to over 2,000 acres.

The fire that started yesterday, July 3, has expanded to over 2,000 acres with structures within a mile of the fire. Structure protection is in place. IDL has requested a Complex Team and has not ordered any evacuations at this time.

UPDATE JULY 4, 1:52 PM

According to the Idaho Department of Lands, the Bill Creek Fire has now grown to 1,500 acres.

UPDATE 9 PM

The agency reported that by 6 p.m. the fire had already covered 400 acres of land, with buildings located about a mile away and exposed to erratic winds. A large firefighting aircraft from the Washington Department of Natural Resources was on hand to assist.

Firefighters battle a 150-acre wildfire along the Snake River near the Idaho-Washington state border.

The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) reported the fire on July 3 at around 3 p.m. The fire is raging in brush and grass near the Snake River.

According to IDL, firefighters are actively working to contain the fire with assistance from other agencies and aircraft dropping flame retardants. While there are still structures in the area, none are currently threatened and no evacuation orders have been issued.
