Real estate investor buys closed branches of Boros Berkshire Bank

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A major local real estate investor purchased two former Berkshire Bank branches in Marlborough and Westborough in June, property records show.

According to property records, Lundgren Equity Partners, through a limited liability company called 303 Turnpike Road, purchased the Marlborough branch at 322 Maple Street for $1.25 million. The LLC also purchased the branch at 303 Turnpike Road for $3.9 million. That location is on the border of Westborough and Northborough.

Pittsfield-based Berkshire Bank announced last year that it would permanently close the two branches, although the Westborough location has been closed since the pandemic, according to the Worcester Business Journal.

Lundgren has become a major player in real estate in central Massachusetts and beyond in recent years. The company was behind a 218-unit mixed-use development in Worcester along Shrewsbury Street, but recently canceled that project and instead redeveloped the commercial plaza where the residential building would have been located.

The company also owns various properties in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont, including office buildings in downtown Worcester and Providence and industrial facilities throughout southern Worcester County.

A representative for Lundgren did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what will happen to the former bank branches.
