Arizona Diamondbacks slugger is inducted into the Hall of Fame as his epic run continues

Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Christian Walker created his own Fourth of July fireworks on Thursday when he hit two home runs in the D'Backs' 9-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Walker continues his epic run against the Dodgers and now has 19 home runs at Dodger Stadium, more than any other player in baseball history after 15 games.

There is also this note from Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Christian Walker has hit a home run in each of his last 5 games against the Dodgers

This puts him on a par with Eddie Mathews (1960), Willie Mays (1956) and Cy Williams (1927) for the third longest home run streak in games against the Dodgers, only behind:

1956 Joe Adcock: 9
1926-27 Cy Williams: 6

Mathews and Mays are in the Hall of Fame, and Williams was a strong player for his time, so Walker is in elite company. And any time you do something that hasn't been done in over 60 years, you've done something right.

Walker has already hit 22 home runs and 63 RBIs this season. He is batting .271 and has an OPS of .833 for the D'Backs. In the 10th year of his career with the Baltimore Orioles and Diamondbacks, Walker has a lifetime batting average of .252 and 143 home runs.

He led the Diamondbacks to the World Series last season and hopes to do it again this year. The D'Backs will travel down the coast to face the San Diego Padres on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET.
