Georgia man allegedly sold fake tickets to Hard Rock Stadium

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida. – A Georgia man was arrested at Hard Rock Stadium over the weekend after Miami-Dade police accused him of selling counterfeit tickets to several patrons.

While working at the stadium for Homeland Security, a Miami-Dade Police Department detective received a call from stadium security at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 29 about a man at the stadium's southeast gate attempting to enter the stadium using counterfeit tickets.

Police said an officer in charge was initially stopped because of a fight between the suspect and a group of people, after which he requested backup.

When police arrived at the scene, at least six victims reported purchasing tickets valued between $130 and $300 from Octavius Lamar Dozier, 48, of College Park, Georgia, and his accomplices, only to discover at the ticket counter that they were counterfeit.

According to a police report, all six victims identified Dozier as the person who sold them the fake tickets.

Police said Dozier felt unwell after his arrest and was taken to Jackson North Medical Center for evaluation.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Dozier claimed another person nicknamed “Dolla” was the actual scammer. However, he admitted to being present during the transactions, which is why the victims believed he was the scammer, the report said.

According to police, Dozier told investigators he was “an acquaintance of Dolla, but denied being the one who defrauded the victims.”

Jail records show Dozier faces six counts of organized fraud, third-degree grand larceny and fraudulent possession or creation of an ADM ticket.

He has been held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since Friday, where his bail was set at $7,500.

Police have not yet identified Dolla and no other arrests have been made. They also did not disclose what type of tickets Dozier was trying to sell before his arrest.
