ATLANTA – One of Georgia Tech’s most successful volleyball graduates will have the chance to expand her career at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

Julia Bergmann was named to the Brazilian Olympic team on Friday. Bergmann was a three-time All American with the Yellow Jackets from 2019 to 2022.

According to Tech's press release, Bergmann is the first Olympian in the history of the volleyball program. With 4.31 kills per set, she is also the leading scorer in the history of the Yellow Jackets.

The school’s press release continues:

Bergmann earned her spot on the 13-man roster after a strong performance in the Volleyball Nations League earlier this summer. She played in seven matches in the month-long tournament, finishing with 39 kills and 11 aces, along with five blocks. She proved to be a weapon at the service line, recording four aces and 12 kills in Brazil's win over Poland in Week 3, part of her very strong finish to the tournament (26 kills and 10 aces in her final three VNL matches).

Brazil's first volleyball match in Paris is scheduled for July 29 at 7 a.m. ET (1 p.m. local time in France) against Kenya.
