Get Me a Home: Meet “Spice Puppy” Corriander from Westbrook, Maine

The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland has 10 Bluetick Coonhound mix puppies available for adoption starting Friday, July 5th.

WESTBROOK, Maine – At just over two months old, Coriander and his littermates are looking for a forever home.

The “Spice Puppies,” as they have been named by the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP), are available for adoption through the Westbrook Animal Rescue. There are 10 of these Bluetick Coonhound mix puppies, all looking for love and attention.

The breed is known for its friendly nature and was bred for hunting. The ARLGP expects these puppies to weigh between 60 and 80 pounds. Coriander is a male and the rescue organization recommends reading up on the breed and puppy training to make sure you're ready to take him or one of his siblings home.

“We ask that all human and animal members of the household come to the ARLGP to meet the puppy and make sure they are a good fit. Our dog adoption counselors are also happy to talk to you about how to introduce your new puppy to the cats in the household. We will also provide information on puppy training and socialization and recommend other available dogs if they are found to be a better fit for your family and lifestyle,” the ARLGP website states.

The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is located at 127 Landing Road in Westbrook and accepts animals every day except Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The ARLGP runs several fundraisers to cover the costs of rescues and housing and feeding all the animals it helps throughout the year.

You can support the ARLGP at the Puttin' Fore Paws Golf Scramble at Point Sebago Resort on August 12. Registration is still open.

Ales for Tales kicks off on September 14 and 15. It's a great place to sample local beers while meeting other animal lovers and their dogs, which is what makes the event so special. But expect changes this year – details to follow.
