Idaho Fire Marshal offers $5,000 reward for suspected arson at Army Surplus in Sandpoint | Spokane News

SANDPOINT, Idaho – The Idaho State Fire Marshal is offering a $5,000 reward for suspected arson at Army Surplus in Sandpoint.

The City of Sandpoint confirmed that the fire broke out at Army Surplus on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Oak Street around 10:15 p.m. on July 4. An investigation was quickly launched by the Idaho State Fire Marshal's Office and the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and SPD.

After reviewing several hours of surveillance video, SPD confirmed that a person was seen walking east on Oak Street around 10 p.m. The suspect walked through the parking lot behind Army Surplus and made his way to the south wall. Shortly thereafter, the fire was observed on the south wall, according to SPD.

The suspect walked away from the flame, heading east toward Fifth Avenue and then heading south.

Police are asking all residents and businesses in the area to review any surveillance footage they may have to help identify the person seen in the video footage. If you have any information, please contact Sandpoint Police at 208-265-1482.
