U.S. Border Patrol arrested the Colombian fugitive on July 4, 2022, after he illegally entered the United States near Del Rio, Texas. Border Patrol issued him a summons to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge and released him on probation.

“This Colombian fugitive is wanted by Spanish authorities for trafficking poisons in their country,” said Todd M. Lyons, director of ERO's Boston field office. “He attempted to hide from justice in Massachusetts. We will not allow New England communities to become safe havens for criminals from around the world. ERO Boston will continue to make public safety our highest priority by apprehending and removing the worst non-citizen offenders from our neighborhoods.”

The Spanish authorities had issued an arrest warrant against the foreign Colombian citizen for drug trafficking.

The Massachusetts State Police in Revere arrested him on June 29, 2024, and charged him with driving without a license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. These charges are pending. Later that same day, ERO Boston filed an immigration arrest warrant with the Massachusetts State Police against the Colombian non-citizen.

Deportation officers from ERO Boston arrested the Colombian fugitive at the Massachusetts State Police Revere Barracks following his release from federal custody. He will remain in ERO custody pending the outcome of his deportation proceedings.

ERO conducts removals of individuals who have no lawful reason to remain in the United States, including under orders from immigration judges in the Justice Department's Executive Office for Immigration Review. The Executive Office for Immigration Review is a separate agency from the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Immigration judges in these courts make decisions based on the merits of each case and determine whether a noncitizen is subject to a final order of removal or is eligible for certain forms of relief from removal.
