Teacher accused of stalking young student

A teacher in Anderson County, South Carolina, is accused of stalking after sending a former student more than 60 “love letters” and joining her church, according to the sheriff's office. The investigation began July 8 when investigators were told that 27-year-old Dylan Dukes had sent more than 60 “love letters” to an 11-year-old former student at Starr Elementary. Authorities said Dukes gave the 11-year-old a personalized box before summer vacation with a letter for each day of the week during summer vacation. The arrest warrant states Duke also gave the girl gift cards, jewelry, pictures and an “unwanted hug that made the victim uncomfortable.” Dukes also recently joined the 11-year-old and her family's church after realizing she would no longer be his student at Starr Elementary, authorities said. When investigators went to the school to inspect his classroom, they found that Dukes had hidden many pictures of the teens and Dukes in his desk. Authorities indicated that the photos were not sexual in nature. Dukes is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center. According to Anderson County School District 3, Dukes has been placed on administrative leave.
